Mental Health Emergencies
Online counseling or email advice is not appropriate in the case of a mental health emergency.
A Mental Health Emergency is a situation where an individual is a threat to him/herself or Others:
Examples of Mental Health Emergencies:
* Abuse
* If you have thoughts of hurting or killing yourself. (suicide)
* If you have thoughts of hurting or killing another person.(homocide)
* If you have a recent history of suicidal, violent or abusive behavior.
* If you hold what others may consider unrealistic beliefs (delusions).
* If you see or hear things that others don't (hallucinations).
* If you are currently addicted to, and/or abusing alcohol or drugs.
* If you are cutting or harming yourself (parasuicide/self-injury)
What to Do:
Call 911 (in the USA) and ask for immediate help.
OR call a hotline service, such as: 1-800-SUICIDE (USA).
